It might seem old-fashioned, but you would be amazed at how much power a community newsletter can have! It’s a great way for your residents to know a little bit about where they live and a whole lot about their local community. Newsletters can bring them a sense of togetherness, which is important if you’re looking to foster loyalty.

If you have no clue about what to include on your newsletter, there are a few things that would be beneficial to your residents, such as:

  • Emphasizing or reminding residents about community policies. You may have a new policy that everyone should become aware of, or you might have an old one that needs to be reinforced. You might need to provide a gentle reminder about rental due dates, or the proper areas where pets are welcomed on the property. Anything that the residents should know about, but might have forgotten, is suitable for a newsletter.
  • Letting people know what’s going on. Is the circus coming to town? A big concert? How about the start of minor league baseball? Any events that are happening in your area should be added to the newsletter so that people are aware of them and can possibly plan to get out and enjoy them. Some residents might have any way to know what’s going on unless you tell them.
  • Sharing home improvement ideas. You might include approved home decorating tips and ideas for residents so they know what changes are allowed, and what ones are not. You can also include gardening tips for patio vegetables, indoor herbs, and houseplants. Even holiday decorating ideas, depending on the season.

A newsletter is also a great way to remind your residents of your contact information, phone, email, and text, just in case they misplaced it. This should be included on every newsletter, every month.

You can put a variety of things in your letters; be creative without pushing boundaries. You can create themes based on holidays and season, or you can change the colors and fonts to grab attention.
