Depending on where you operate your business, you may have some different liability concerns. Some are more dangerous than others, and need different types of coverage. Let’s take a look at some of the main concerns and how you can address them.

—    Swimming pool- If there is a swimming pool anywhere on the property where you conduct your business, you are going to want to make sure that the proper safety precautions are taken. This does not just apply to the summer season either. It is important to protect your clients and their family members all year round from getting trapped in a pool cover to drowning. If you are near a pool, your insurance may be incredibly high, and you may want to consider moving your business elsewhere.

—    Staircase- A staircase is always a big business liability. You can never predict when someone is going to fall down the stairs, but you can do your best to make sure that your stairs have the proper safety precautions going on. Be sure that any runners or carpets are tacked down properly so no one catches their foot. Have railings in the appropriate locations. Proper lighting will ensure that your guests can see where they are going when climbing the stairs. Take precautions before an accident occurs.

—    Glass Doors- Glass doors can also be a big liability. Watch out for clients walking through glass doors, or not noticing that they are there. One way to do that is by adding curtains or decorative decals to make sure that people are aware that the door is made of glass. Consider having a window cling made with your business information on it to give them an indicator that something is there.

—    Animals- If you are working from home or if you bring your dog to work, it is important to carry some sort of pet-owner liability insurance that covers you when at work too. If you have horses on the property, you need to be sure that your guests are covered if an accident was to occur. Even if clients don’t come in direct contact with the animals, you’ll still need to be sure you are covered just in case. Even the most lovable animal can be unpredictable and you won't’ want to be stuck in a nasty situation.
